Girona, 7th June 2019 - The 14th ceremony of the Manel Xifra i Boada awards took place at the Technical School of the University of Girona with the aim of recognizing the most outstanding contributions to engineering.
Caterina Biscari, director of the ALBA Synchrotron, collected the prize awarded to the facility, in the category of applied research or technological centres. During her speech, she highlighted the "importance of this type of awards that make visible the role of engineering, key for the scientific progress".
Eudald Carbonell was recognized for his role disseminating technical and technological knowledge, as co-director of the digs of the Atapuerca site.
The prize for the best professional career went to Joan Arimany, an industrial engineer, who has been working in company Gas Natural for more than 30 years.
The Manel Xifra i Boada awards were born in 2005, shortly after the death of the engineer who gave them their name, who was a technical engineer at the company Comexi, devoted to the manufacture of flexible packaging materials.
