On the 15th and 16th of April 2019, the ALBA Synchrotron brought together teachers that are members of the advisory board of the Joint Universities Accelerator School (JUAS), a training programme in partnership with CERN and 16 European universities.

Cerdanyola del Vallès, 16th April 2019 -  The school comprises two five-week specialization courses addressed to university students that are focused on the science of particle accelerators and the technology and their applications. Three Spanish universities are involved in the training: the Universitat de València (UV), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

Caterina Biscari, director of the ALBA Synchrotron and professor at UAB, is the representative of this university in the advisory board of this training programme. The accelerator physics course at the UAB is the only course in Spain that takes place within the degree programme.

During the meeting, the members of the advisory board discussed and analysed the contents of the training and proposed improvements for future editions. They have also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the ALBA Synchrotron, including its accelerators' tunnel, taking advantage of the planned shutdown.
